Mary Helen Mackillop was born on January 15, 1842, Fitzroy, Melbourne Australia. Mary Mackillop is the patron saint of Australia and New Zealand. Mary Mackillop has 7 siblings and they are named John, Alick, Donald, Peter, Annie, Margaret and Alexandrina Mackillop. Mary Mackillop was the eldest of the eight. Her parents are  Alexander MacKillop and Flora MacDonald. When she was at the age 25 Mary Mackillop took in the name of St Mary of the cross. She cared for everyone that did not have any food, shelter and water. She opened the first St. Joseph school for the people on the streets. Mary Mackillop was sent out of the church because the Bishop did not like what Mary Mackillop was doing. In the year 1902 Mary Mackillop had a stroke. She survived the stroke for 7 years then died. She died on August 8 1909 in North Sydney, Australia.
